CUSEN is applying for funding for the Home Heat Team project, which will employ a new person, the ‘Home Heat Helper’, to work across Northumberland to increase awareness of fuel poverty amongst some of the most vulnerable families, its solutions and to encourage people to access the energy efficiency loans that they have available but which are currently not being accessed due to a lack of awareness that they exist and understanding of how they can help reduce fuel bills. Once recruited and trained in energy efficiency and fuel poverty, the ‘Home Heat Helper’ will become CUSEN’s expert on supporting members who are struggling with their fuel bills. They will be responsible for developing the new Home Heat Team service, promoting the scheme and undertaking a number of activities to increase awareness of the problem of fuel poverty and to highlight its solutions, including the £36,000 pot of energy efficiency loans available through CUSEN.
