The project approach will be to recruit and train a team of volunteer “Fuel Poverty Busters”, who have personal experience of fuel poverty, who will work in local communities within the borough of Barnsley. They will provide energy efficiency advice and awareness in either group or 1-1 sessions promoting self- help and self-reliance and the cascading of knowledge by participants within their own social networks. They will be supported by and work alongside a dedicated and qualified Fuel Poverty Advisor, who will work with individuals to increase benefit income and reduce fuel debt.
