The project will develop skills with local people showing them how to switch suppliers and support people to investigate ways in which they can maximise their low levels of income by exploring more competitive mobile phone and landline tariffs, household and car insurances and developing skills and confidence using the internet. Undertake a benefit check/assessment to make sure that people are maximising benefit entitlements. Hold community advice days to link people with the local energy advice centre and Sandwell Council advising on existing energy schemes available to householders. Hold community advice days, advise on draught proofing measures working with Smethwick Energy Advice centre to support installation on doors and windows, give advice on how behaviours’ can impact on health and well being and advising how to minimise health and property problems. Use the community advice days to promote information on available training, employment and volunteer opportunities.
