South Seeds is seeking funding to support its continued work delivering a programme of energy efficiency and fuel poverty advice within south Glasgow.
The aim of the South Seeds Energy Champion project is to provide practical energy advice and to help people reduce energy bills through a combination of measures and better control of energy use, make referrals to existing grant programmes, such as the Energy Assistance Scheme and Energy Companies Obligation and signposting and signing up properties eligible. We work through local community engagement; presenting at local groups or organising local events, we can give on the spot advice but seek to arrange home visits. We also have good relationships with local support organisations and we give 30% of people we engage with income maximisation support through referrals to the local food bank, local law centre and the local welfare advice agency, as well as by supporting households to access payments (such as the Warm Homes Discount) and manage their bills more effectively
