The project aims to have a direct impact on the level of poverty for many people living in the borough of Walsall by providing specialist advice and support to the many organisations that do not have the resources to engage in the provision of a combined welfare rights and debt counselling service to those who are excluded from mainstream advice services because of disability and social exclusion. The project focuses on those suffering with mental health problems, the elderly, physically disabled and ethnic minority groups. The funding will cover the cost of employing and supporting a specialist advice worker providing face to face debt, energy and welfare rights advice.
